Qualcomm kondigt aan dat Safeway het mobiele communicatiesysteem EutelTRACS gaat gebruiken
- Safeway gaat het wagenparkbeheersysteem integreren voor een verhoogde productiviteit -
SAN DIEGO - 3 juni 2002 - Qualcomm Incorporated (Nasdaq: QCOM), de leider in mobiele communicatie voor de transportindustrie, heeft vandaag aangekondigd dat Safeway Stores plc, een van de meest vooraanstaande levensmiddelenbedrijven van het Verenigd Koninkrijk, Qualcomm heeft gekozen om het mobiele communicatie- en volgsysteem EutelTRACS™ voor het hele wagenpark te gebruiken. Volgens de overeenkomst gaat Qualcomm Wireless Business Solutions Europe aan het landelijk opererende wagenpark van Safeway satellietcommunicatieapparatuur en -diensten leveren via het netwerk van EutelTRACS.EutelTRACS is in Europa de servicenaam voor het mobiele communicatiesysteem OmniTRACS® van Qualcomm dat satelliet- en netwerkdiensten van Eutelsat S.A.gebruikt.
De combinatie van de oplossing van Qualcomm en het geïntegreerde systeem voor transportbeheer van Safeway, zorgt dat Safeway de distributiemiddelen en prestatiegegevens in real-time kan beheren. Deze mogelijkheden ondersteunen Safeway bij het optimaliseren van het gebruik van het wagenpark, het verminderen van onproductief verbruik, het verbeteren van de veiligheid en het verminderen van de effecten op het milieu, door nauwkeurig bij te houden hoeveel brandstof het voertuig en de chauffeur gebruiken.
