Qualcomm unveils FleetVisor Web Portal at European Road Transport Show (ERTS)
During the event in Amsterdam (October 25th), Qualcomm introduces the web based portal of its Mobile Communications Platform, which covers the needs of transport companies of all sizes
ERTS Show, Amsterdam, 25 October 2007: Qualcomm Enterprise Services Europe launches FleetVisor Web Portal at the ERTS Show in Amsterdam. This portal gives access to the platform that combines all Qualcomm Fleet management products EutelTRACS, OmniExpress, OmniOne and offer users the opportunity to access and handle all of Qualcomm’s solutions and manage fleets of any type at anytime, from anywhere through a single user interface and thanks to a single database. It will be demonstrated live for the first time in Amsterdam during ERTS Show on October 25th.
“This portal, that combines all Qualcomm Fleet Management products and services into a single user interface with a single database will offer our clients the opportunity to manage their complete data wherever they are, at anytime, improving their ease of use but also their reactivity and decision making, explains Sjef van Gool, Managing Director Europe at Qualcomm. They will benefit this way from a significant competitive advantage on a very competitive market”.
Improve efficiency from anywhere at anytime
So far, users of the transport industry have had various on-board monitoring systems and applications, including systems for driver hour management, systems for driver and vehicle performance via the FMS CAN-Bus, applications for two-way messaging and positioning; fuel consumption and trailer tracking, etc. Some of their reporting systems had its own database as well as a different look, resulting in a complex and non efficient user experience.
FleetVisor collects all the data from these systems and applications, processes their information according to the customers KPI requirements, for example and displays it in one uniform and easy to use graphical interface, including European styled maps looking more alive with rich graphics. And now, thanks to the web-based portal, the user can access the information from any Internet access point, anywhere in the world.
Already field tested thoroughly at a large number of leading transport companies, such as Betz Netherlands BV, managing several thousands of vehicles, FleetVisor Web portal offers a high level of security through a dedicated private network and redundant servers and databases. In addition, all information from the FleetVisor portal can be seamlessly integrated with back-office transport management systems from many different suppliers.
“At Betz Netherlands BV, we accepted to beta test the new FleetVisor, and our feedback is very positive” explains Jan Stolk, Manager Technique. “Some major areas have caught our attention and have made the system more pleasant to operate, among which the integration of QTracs and HourTRACS, the map to visualise the positions of the vehicles which is a major improvement, the possibility to monitor trailers or the possible to log-on, and off, the drivers from a distance. The lay-out, of the system, is very well-organised and to top it, it looks nice as well. A lot of applications have been added, which makes FleetVisor a splendid additional tool for daily operations.”
Immediately available, the FleetVisor Web Portal is part of the FleetVisor platform and will be activated for any company buying at least one component, either EutelTRACS, or OmniExpress or OmniOne.
FleetVisor, a complete solution for companies of all sizes
FleetVisor is a complete solution based on 3 components which answers the needs of transport companies of all size. In addition to EutelTRACS, tailored to long-haul and international transport companies’ needs, Qualcomm included two new solutions to its platform : OmniExpress, a mid-range solution for national and regional transport and distribution companies with mixed fleets; and OmniOne, a tracking and information exchange solution for charter and sub-contractors.
OmniExpress facilitates planning and decision making based on conclusive data which we obtain on vehicle and driver performance, in particular, data extracted off the FMS-CAN bus and digital tachograph. With a modular structure (that can be tailored to individual company needs), this solution provides real-time information on trip status; compliance information on driver hours and working time (WTD) activities; tracking and tracing from frequent vehicle positioning; and provides meaningful reporting capabilities from fuel consumption to driver availability.
OmniOne mobile appliance-based, track-n-trace solution. Easy to use, quick and cost effective. The dispatcher simply hands over the OmniOne appliance to the next driver along with the load and paperwork. No roaming costs: communication costs are invoiced on a fixed, no-surprise basis. Information exchanges from loading to delivery point takes place via driver screens that are simple to use through a two-button user interface. And to facilitate accurate communication between a company and its sub-contractors, the driver can select his language preference and supported languages include both western and eastern European main languages.
