Qualcomm annonce le déploiement chez Safeway Stores de son système de communication mobile EutelTRACS™

- Safeway Stores adopte le système de gestion de flotte de Qualcomm en vue d'accroître sa productivité -

SAN DIEGO - 3 juin 2002 - Qualcomm Incorporated (Nasdaq : QCOM), le leader mondial des solutions de communication mobile destinées à l'industrie du transport, vient d'annoncer que Safeway Stores PLC, l'une des principales enseignes de la grande distribution au Royaume-Uni, a opté pour le système de suivi et de communication mobile EutelTRACS™ pour l'ensemble de sa flotte. Selon les termes du contrat, Qualcomm Wireless Business Solutions Europe fournira à Safeway le matériel et les services de communication par satellite par le biais du réseau Eutelsat.

* EutelTRACS™ est le nom européen du système de communication mobile OmniTRACS® de Qualcomm, qui utilise le réseau de l’opérateur satellite Eutelsat.

En associant la solution Qualcomm à son système intégré de gestion du transport, Safeway pourra gérer, en temps réel, ses performances et ses ressources de distribution. Ce contrôle permanent aidera la société à optimiser l'utilisation de sa flotte, à diminuer le nombre de parcours non productifs, à accroître la sécurité et à réduire l'impact de son activité sur l'environnement en déterminant avec précision la consommation en carburant des ses camions et la façon de conduire de ses chauffeurs.
